Benefits

As a member of the union you have access to the following benefits:

Welfare Fund

The union operates a Welfare Fund to provide assistance to a member and their family in cases of genuine hardship or on the bereavement of the member, the member's spouse, infant or school age child.

Death Grants

On the death of a contributing member, a death grant of $4000.00 may be issued to the member's next of kin on application and proof of death.

A death grant of $500.00 may be issued to a contributing member in the case of the death of the member's spouse, infant or school age child.

Hardship Grants

In cases of genuine hardship the trustees of the fund may issue a hardship grant up to the value of $400.00.

School Uniform / Text Books Grants

Assistance of up to $400.00 can be granted to assist with the purchase of school uniforms and text books where a member is faced with genuine hardship.

A brochure which outlines the benefits the fund provides and the requirements governing the application of these benefits is available to members on request from the Central and Regional offices of the union or can be obtained from the union organiser. Members who wish to seek assistance should contact their regional organiser who will be able to assist you with your application.

Life Cover

The union Life Cover insurance plan provides possibly the cheapest premium rate in the country for both the member and family - 24 hours a day - 7 days a week - 52 weeks of the year. $23,000 cover.

Superannuation

Our union super scheme has no joining or agents fees, members contribuions are administered by a board of union trustees made up of rank and file union members. The fund consistently returns to members better than average percentages.

Medical

Our union has negotiated full medical cover which includes all existing illnesses, immediate policy cover plus various plans at affordable prices.

Trauma

This cover provides for up to 24 of some of the most common traumas and pays to the member up to $15,000 (net). Traumas included are heart attacks, strokes, kidney problems etc. The payout is to help you pay the bills while you recover and to return to work when you are fit to do so.
